Our History

Republic has world-wide credentials and experience in the area of textiles. Our appraisals are nationally recognized in this field by financial institutions throughout the world. Companies and financial institutions listed on the attached pages indicate our references in the textile equipment appraisal field. Our appraisal format complies with AMEA and ASA standards. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce our company.

Republic Textile (RTE) is our flagship company and has been involved in the textile industry since 1935. RTE was founded in New York and originally operated by Robert Gillman and Lawrence Diamond. In 1965, the company was incorporated in New York by Mr. Diamond and his son, Michael. In 1973, Michael Diamond, in a separate non-related corporate organization, formed Republic Textile Equipment Company of SC, Inc. located in York, South Carolina. Since then, Republic has become one of the largest shippers of textile machinery and equipment in the world. After Republic moved to the South in 1973, there were numerous asset based lenders as well as other appraisal companies that began calling upon RTE's experience in the textile field to provide them with market valuations on textile equipment. In 1989, Republic then established a sister company know as Republic Associates which initially specialized in textile equipment appraisals.
Republic appraised over one billion dollars in equipment assets last year. Our appraisals have taken us around the world to include countries such as Indonesia and Mexico. Since our appraisal service covering textile equipment has been widely accepted, the company now has been requested to perform other types of equipment appraisals and inventory valuations.
